BRD presents our Season 21 opening show, handle with care, an evening of contemporary dance. handle with care explores how stepping outside of norms, traditions, and expectations can create unexpected, moving, and fulfilling experiences. From subtle gestures and uncomfortable glances, to sweeping, dynamic movement, handle with care reminds us what it is to be curious, vulnerable, playful, and altogether human.

Audiences are taken along an abstract movement journey with Jessica Boone’s, “Onward, to the Side and Around” which pushes, settles, becomes slightly odd, and somewhat familiar and tender. “delicates”, by returning choreographer Anna Bauer, along with Celeste Camfield, is a movement study on clothing and a walk at night. Lily Gee’s, “Like Dragon”, explores the complexities of heritage and generational dynamics. Gregg Bielemeier amplifies the playful physicality in “Suit Side In” by offering a different perspective on a common article of clothing. We are also thrilled to bring back Brandon Whited’s “Petit Pas”, a contemporary exploration and reframing of Marius Petipa’s 'grand pas de deux' structure.
