Bellingham Repertory Dance presents December Dance Days, a festive series of dance classes during the holiday season. From December 5 - January 2, BRD members and guest instructors will offer classes every Sunday at the Firehouse Arts and Events Center. We hope you will join us!
Join Bellingham Repertory Dance’s 2021 artist in residence Damian Cade in an investigation of the roots of jazz dance. In this class, we will learn one version of the historic routine the Tranky Doo, while also upleveling our musicality, improvisation, and quality of movement. Come and participate in this vital means of expression that’s available to anyone, regardless of background.
Damian has spent his adult life in the swing dance community, researching, listening, performing, and teaching. He presents jazz dance in its historical and cultural context, and connects it back to its African American roots. He has been a guest instructor at WWU, and performed and competed in the US and Canada. He currently teaches jazz and tap dance in Bellingham, WA.
