BRD SEASON 14 LIFTOFF
To our dear friends and supporters,
Hello friends, family, community, dancers, movers, and artists! You may know us as the Bellingham Repertory Dance artists, BRDies, or just those fun-loving ladies dancing around town. We are here today to invite you to become an integral part of our 14th (yes, you read that right) season – our most inspiring and daring year yet! Over this next trip around the sun, BRD has some incredibly exciting plans extending our reach and sharing dialogue in ways we never have before.
About our Season:
This October we’ll be kicking off the fall as panelists at the Women in Dance Conference in Philadelphia. This year’s conference is all about promoting and celebrating female leadership in dance and other male-dominated arts fields, and we’re incredibly proud to have been selected to present a panel on female-led dance collectives. Opportunities like this don’t come around every day, and we can’t wait to share BRD’s unique and powerful perspective with the international dance community.
We also have big plans for our fall and spring concerts. This summer we hosted six choreographers from across the country who set work on our fabulous dancers. Seriously, this is going to be a blast of a show, and we can’t wait to share it with you!
Why we need you!
Let’s get down to it: all of these exciting happenings come with a cost. When BRD plans a season, we do our best to balance those costs with the value that we are bringing to the amazing Bellingham community. This is why we need your help!
Here’s the breakdown:
Women in Dance Conference (flights, housing, conference fees for our panelist members): $2500
Choreographers (payment, flights, housing): $7,500
Rehearsal space/theater rentals: $4,200
BRD is run entirely on a volunteer basis, which means we collectively donate thousands of hours per season to keep the company alive. When we reach our goal for this campaign, we hope to offer partial stipends to each dancer for performance time. Though small, these checks will be symbolic of our belief that artists should be paid for their art.
You are WONDERFUL. We can’t thank you enough for your contribution (in ANY amount), and your support means the world to us.
We completely understand that not everyone can donate, but if you want to help here are some other ways to do so:
Tell your friends and family
Share this campaign on Facebook and Instagram
Email it to your friends, families, co-workers, and fellow arts lovers
Come to our performances! We would love to see you in our audience so that you can see us do what we do best
Cheers!! Thank you a million times for helping to grow dance in our community.
